Le Forez et ses Hautes Chaumes sont très différents du Livradois. Les habitations de montagne, appelées "Burons" servaient autrefois à abriter les femmes et les hommes qui montaient leur troupeaux en estive. C'est le berceau de notre fameux fromage: la Fourme d'Ambert. Mais il fallait redescendre dès les premiers froids; car certains anciens disent que là-haut "on poussait la neige neuf mois avec son ventre". C'est dire que le climat est rude; mais en été c'est un vrai paradis. Pour vous en rendre compte, vous pouvez faire le chemin du Colporteur et, en même temps, vous en profiterez pour faire le plein d'air pur. Bonne randonnée en Forez !
